Baby sleeping through night

So my little man is 3 months old and I keep seeing all these posts and articles about how he should be sleeping through the night now, except he is not. He still wakes up every 2-3 hours and wants to eat (breast fed baby). Once in a while he will have a longer stretch of sleep but it's very rare (and normally if he sleeps longer he was being held). Should I be concerned that he is not sleeping on his own or that he is eating too much? I know every baby is different but I am a first time mom and have no idea what is normal.
