Cramps vs pelvic pain?

Question

I'm kinda confused as to what the main difference is between the two since they both seem to be abdominal pain. I know cramps are common but pelvic pain can be more serious. How can you tell the difference between the two pains? Can someone please elaborate? Thank you :)

Period cramps are the uterus contracting. This is can be dull or a more severe ache, sometimes cyclic in nature for me (like every 10 minutes I get a really bad cramp, goes on for hours). 
Sometimes poo cramps feel like period cramps but usually just your bowel working through stool and gas, these are sharper pain for me and come and go fast. 
Other pelvic pain could be your bladder or cystic in nature. I haven't experienced severe bladder pain, but cysts feel like I'm being stabbed inside somewhere. It's hard to say because every woman is different with varying degrees of pain tolerance and experience. Pelvic pain needs careful assessment to determine the source because there is so much going on down there.
