How many bottles?

Question

I am trying to figure out how many bottles I will need to plan for baby. My goal is to solely breast feed. I plan on pumping as soon as I’ve established a good routine. This is in part to baby going into daycare at 3 months when I return to work. I also want dad to help with feedings here and there before then. I received a few new bottles as gifts but I’m trying to figure out how many total I will need. Thoughts?

With my twins I never breast fed, I bottled fed and had 3 bottles each baby, but I also washed the bottles after every use, so I would of been fine with 1 bottle each baby. If you don’t plan on washing the bottles right away I would say 3-6 bottles

I agree with someone here.... if you want to breastfeed and bottle feed, baby needs to be able to pick out which one works. After that it really depends on how often you do dishes and how many bottles they take a day. For me? I have 4 small ones and 7 larges ones. I expect to bottle feed 1-2/day and I hate doing dishes so.... I can go 2-3 days without washing dishes and be good.

If you're breastfeeding, don't stock up on bottles until you find one baby likes/will take. 
I use Avent natural and he hasn't had any issues with switching from boob to bottle. I bought a starter set that had 3 small bottles and 2 big bottles. But I know some babies are super picky (mine has started refusing the Nuk bottle at my mom's house even tho he used to take it 🤷)
If you make a baby registry somewhere, often times they'll give you a gift bag of free sample stuff and usually it has a bottle in there. You could get those and find which one baby likes, then buy that kind.

Depends on how many times the baby eats, how much baby eats and how many times a day you want to wash/sterilize them. In the beginning, my son ate 2-3 ounces every 2-2 1/2 hours and I had 5 5 ounce bottles. I washed and sterilized 2-3 times a day. Now, I have 5 9 ounce bottles and I wash and sterilize 1-2 times a day. He’s eating 6-7 ounces every 5-6 hours now that he’s a little older.

With my girl I used the same bottle all day just rinsed it put, then at night I put it in dishwasher for it to be sanitized, so I had a new bottle every morning. So that you’re not having to run the dishwasher every night I’d say like 5-7 bottles should be good for one baby. 
But also if you’re breast feeding but do want to bottle feed, make sure to introduce bottle early still or baby could have a really tough time adapting like mine did, it was hell.
