How to get rid of the pacifier?

My daughter is 15 months and starting daycare soon. We're ready for her to stop using a pacifier, but she's very dependent on it for sleeping (she only uses it to sleep). We've tried getting rid of it a couple times but keep giving in because she refuses to nap, she just screams bloody murder. Each attempt lasted less than a day, we never made it to bed time without giving it back to her. We tried cutting a hole in the tip so she'd think it was broken (found this tip online) and it just pissed her off more. Any suggestions?

Cut the tip off and let her be pissed 🤷🏼‍♀️ she will get over it, I promise. It may take a couple days, but she will adjust. Kids are resilient, you just can't give in. 
She's probably a little young to understand the concept of giving her pacis to little babies who need them more, but I've heard of people doing this too.

It may suck that she doesn’t nap without it but if she’s tired enough she’ll sleep eventually. Not only that but most daycares don’t accept children using pacifiers past 9-10 months. At lest the ones I’ve worked in. Not only that but it will start misshaping her teeth and the way they come in therefore it’s also a medical necessity if you don’t want her teeth messing up.

You need to give it more time than a half a day. You’ll have a couple rough days, and then she will be over it. Our son bit through his pacifiers so we threw them out. My husband bought new (aged older) ones,  and my son hated them. We weren’t going to buy more, so he just complained for about 2 days and then it was over. No more  binky, and life was normal again.
