Tdap vaccine for visitors?

Question

How serious is it to make your visitors get the tdap vaccine when you have a newborn? Our doctor recommended all visitors to be around baby get the booster. We live far from family and friends so when they visit it’ll be for days/weeks not just a couple hours. I’m asking them to get it, but feel like it’s a big pain for them... 
what did you ladies do? Is the threat for the baby actually that significant? I guess I’m more worried because they’ll all be on germ infested airplanes before coming here.... thoughts??

I wont force vaccinations on anyone. So if my family doesnt want to, I wont ask them again. My own husband doesn't and has never had a single vaccination and won't. Given it's his child too, I respect his decision. Any other family just wont get close enough to my child until they are protected.

Just have them change, wash their hands and not kiss the baby.

i’m asking for anyone who wants to hold the baby to receive the TDAP vaccination. you can get it at the drugstore so it’s really not a major inconvenience and it’s what i feel is best for my baby. if you don’t want to get it that’s fine but don’t touch my kid

I don’t have the Tdap my husband doesn’t and I don’t care if my family doesn’t get it, I’m not big on hand sanitizers either, (it kills all germs even the good ones) everyone in my family is perfectly healthy and you can’t shield your baby from everything. Hospitals are filled with bacteria that we don’t even know of, nurses tell me all the time. Taking baby out to the store or just in any environment is a risk. In my opinion we have to build up their immune systems no matter how sucky it is when they get sick.

I followed my doctor’s recommendation and asked anyone who was going to have very close contact with the baby before 2 months to get one. We live far from friends and family, so it’s not many people and all of them agreed readily.

This is a super personal call, but I will tell you,  having worked in NICU’s for over a decade seeing a baby with whooping cough is HORRENDOUS. I’m one of those “I’d rather not risk it” type of people and believe in full vaccinations. With that being said, I’ll only ask people who fall in the care-giver category to get the vaccination, which they are all totally okay with. I don’t personal think casual visitors need it.

Yes. If they don’t want to get the shot, my family won’t hold my baby until she’s 6 weeks old and has the shot her self: it’s up to them

I didn’t get mine and I didn’t request anyone to get theirs to see her either. The only thing I asked is to wash their hands before holding my baby and no kissing. Not everyone is up to date and in fact most adults aren’t...
