Best types of birth control?

In you guys opinion, which birth control has worked best for you and has given you the least amount of side effects? My friend has the rod in her arm and she has literally been bleeding for 3 months straight. I know it is different for everyone but I just would like to hear everyones opinions!!!

I really love my mirena iud. Its fda approved to treat heavy periods. Thats why i got it. It stopped my heavy periods after 4 months of having it. Ive had it over a year now. No condoms or pull out and im not pregnant. Medications dont interact with it. The only side effect i got was bad cramps for 2 weeks after getting it. Like stop and breathe cramps but for me it was worth the adjustment period because i have naturally very heavy and very painful periods its called primary dysmenorrhea and primary menorrhagia. Mirena took those away. I check my strings monthly.
