Were you allowed to dress your newborn in the hospital?

Question

I read someone say that they were scolded in the hospital for putting a onesie on their baby, their reasoning being that the umbellical stump needed to heal. 
Does this sound real to anyone? I've had one baby but my epidural was messed up and I was very very out of it. I don't remember anything from  the hospital.

I was allowed to dress my son the same night. He was born around 7pm and by 9pm he was in pjs. And We were there for 2 days or so after he was born. Think it just depends on the hospital and if the baby is healthy and checks out good.

Both my babies were dressed fully dressed (His pants were off cause I just changed him but he was dressed) I have never heard of a hospital not letting you dress them! The outfit was one of my favorite parts!

My midwife dressed our son with my husband after we had had our skin to skin after birth (so probably when he was about 6 hours old I think). I think at our hospital, you can pretty much do as you choose. They respect that it’s your baby and give guidance as they see fit or if asked

When my daughter was born they wouldn't let us dress her till she was cleared to go home. So she stayed in a diaper and hospital blanket till we dressed her to go home.

I had my kids at 2 different hospitals. I have 4 kids total. The second hospital doesnt allow you to dress the child until theyve been given the ok to go home. 
The first hospital allowed it after the initial check up after birth.

My son was allowed right away to be dressed. My daughter was in the nicu as wasn’t allowed because she was on cpap mask to help her breathe

They advised me to grab loose clothing so I brought a onesie that was too big for her so it wouslnt be too tight.

That sounds ridiculous! It’s your baby! After skin to skin and your ready dress your baby whenever you want! 
My twins were dressed that night and my youngest wasn’t wearing clothes for a few days but he was in nicu in an incubator but totally different!

Depends on the hospital I guess. With my son we could dress him and at this hospital we can too. My hospital time would have been miserable if we couldn’t. He hated being swaddled and always got out of the blankets and hospitals are so cold, we had to put clothes on him just to keep him warm. This time we are bringing sleep gowns for easy access for temp and diapers
