Ready to potty train?

Ok so my son is 22 months and he keeps grabbing at his diaper when it's wet. He isn't really talking yet so I'm not sure how to get him to tell us when he has to go. Any suggestions? Is he probably ready?

Get a baby sign language book and teach him that way

He could be grabbing it because he has a little baby boner and it’s bothering him. My little will get a little baby hard on and pee and then tug at his diaper because it’s uncomfortable. This was at 8months to 12months
At 12 to now 15 months he’s made it quite clear he when he needs to potty. 
The minute he soils his diaper he removes it himself and brings me a new one. He will go off by himself and crouch in a sit position and BM refuses to BM in the tub, on car rides, store, unless we’re home he won’t poop and he won’t poop in front of us. 
He also if he’s around a bathroom with the door open will go in remove his diaper and pee on the toilet base since that’s all he can reach aim wise.
