During Your C-Section, Did You Feel Like You Couldn’t Breathe?

Posting a series of polls related to my experiences from my first c-section to see if other mamas had similar experiences.

The breathing wasn’t as bad as the shakes for me. I was shivering so bad.

I had this with my 1st 2 csections, and while it is normal because your numb up into your diaphragm, it also turned out I was having an SVT. So was given oxygen and a massage on the artery in my neck to help resolve it. I felt WAY better after that. They will be prepared for that this time, and hopefully I'll be more comfortable, cause its definitely unnerving feeling like your almost being suffocated .

Felt like I had to work to breather. Like my lungs wouldn't expand all the way or setting. But not like I couldn't breathe.

I reacted in all sorts of weird and wonderful ways to the anaesthetic, queasy, dizzy, tingly, headache etc. I went very hypotensive (low blood pressure). Both times I just spoke to the anaesthetist and they adjusted my dose and it steadied.

It wasn’t that I couldn’t breathe ie gasping for air, it’s that you can’t feel your chest rising and falling each time you breathe in and out. That’s what freaked me out but they warned me that it would happen. They gave me morphine and I was fine after that

With all three.  I learned that if I panicked it made it hella worse. I calmed myself and prepared my brain for the last two. The feeling is scary and sucks but you can work though it if you have to have multiple C-sections.

From all the pulling and tugging it felt like there was a rock on my chest making it harder to breath.. it was really frightening 😭 that’s the one part I didn’t like about my birth experience. Felt like they were ripping me apart. Getting the placenta out was probably the hardest part on me!
