How long did your baby stay in newborn size?

How much did your baby weigh at birth and how long were they in newborn clothes for? At 36 weeks my baby was measuring 6.8lbs (I know these can be off but all of my 4 nephews weights were accurate so I'm going with it) and the doctor told me he could be about 8-9 lbs at birth. The problem is we have so many newborn clothes and a lot say upto 9lbs so now I'm stressing that we don't have enough 0-3 and that my baby won't fit in newborn at all. So what's your experience with this? Thanks in advance.
