Anyone else GBS positive?

This is my second time being GBS positive and stressing out so much! Last time I had enough time to get my penicillin in and my water never broke until the actual delivery started but I’m worried about not having enough time now. Please share your experience to ease my anxiety!

My midwife advised that if there's no time to give antibiotics, then it's highly unlikely there's time for the baby to contract the infection. My son contracted it in birth 5 years ago and was immediately treated. He's not had any lasting side effects so I would say try not to worry. They will look for it if they know you tested positive. 👍

I had it on my first and it was undiagnosed until after and then I was treated my little one wasn't and is fine, I was all clear on the second and have it again on the third (found on cervical swab) so will be having antibiotics in labour. I'm not too concerned with it all as it's all out of my hands just counting down to labour now.

I only allowed the urine test which would show high colonization. The GBS test is dumb....you can test positive one day then negative the next and vise versa. The chances of passing to baby is 50% but chances of baby having problems from it is 1-2%. My sister was positive and didn’t do antibiotics and I wouldn’t either if I did. Gut health is very important and when baby passes through the birth canal they pickup the first bacteria that will start their gut health. Antibiotics destroy that good bacteria so you’re starting yourself and your baby out with a rocky start.
