thank u social media, it showed me how funny is it when sometimes stranger understand and support you more than all those ‘bestfriends’🙂

Answer

It may not be that they are fake friends. It may be ongoing behavior or issues that one can only deal with for so long. I’ll give you a perfect example. I had a best friend of 20 plus years. She cheated on her husband. I tried to be a supportive friend even though she did wrong, but she inserted me right into the middle of her drama. It was causing me to lose my sanity and happiness. Her behaviors were way out of the norm. You couldn’t tell her anything. I started stepping back with the support little by little. Sometimes you can only be so supportive. When it costs your peace of mind, sanity and overall happiness it’s okay to take a step back. Their shit doesn’t have to be your shit too. Strangers wouldn’t know what is truly going on so it’s easier for them to be supportive without knowing the full story. Just food for thought on a different perspective.

I don't keep them. I only use fb for people in different countries, and that's only for when we intend to next meet up. It's my opinion, that if one doesn't keep close contact with a person then it isn't really a best friend. Sure, we can offer people emotional support from afar but a friend is more than that for me.
