Thoughts?

For starters, I’m a college student. I used to date this guy but we broke up because it seemed that he’d always throw things in my face. He’d always ask me what I brought to the table so we broke up. After moving out of the city, he apologized and tried to mend things. He came to my city and we went shopping. That day, I had forgotten my card but saw a super cute purse. I asked him if he could get it for me and I’d send him the money through Zelle. He told me I could just give him half. This morning I sent the other half because I kind of want to avoid the same situation repeating and he said this.. I’m a bit on the edge because of past things he’s said. Am I reading too much into it? I feel like he feels pity for me
