What’s the pros/cons to cervical checks?

Have you had one? Found it helpful? What week did you dr start to check?
I’m being induced at 39 weeks and my dr wants to start checking at 35 weeks. I’m not opposed to it. Actually I really wanna know lol.

People say it's pointless and can be misleading because you can be at 2cm for weeks, or not dilated at all and then suddenly go into labor. Some people say it's an infection risk, I really don't understand that because it's not like it's done in the dumpster behind a flea market, it's done in a sterile office with a medical professional swearing sterile gloves. I consent to my checks because I want to know. I'm fully aware it could mean nothing. But at 35w you're still preterm and if you're 3.5cm your doctor might have reason to be concerned. I just like to know. I like to know my body is making progress.

Yes I had one at 35 weeks and 37 weeks. 
Pros are you know if you are progressing, if babies head is down, etc
Cons; If you aren’t progressing it can stress you out especially if you are already over the pregnancy 
it kinda hurts
you could be dialated and still not go into labor anytime soon so it kinda creates a false hope

It can be uncomfortable, you can be at a certain cm for a few weeks. There is risk of infection but it is very slim. I like to know. With my first I never dilated until I was 41 weeks and 3 days and that was the same day I had him. I went from a 1 - having him in just a few hours. I don’t recall when they started checking me. I’m 37 weeks today and I’m anxious to know if my body is doing anything with this one. I would like him to come before 41 weeks lol he is very low compared to my first. My OB has already said feel free to go into labor lol

With my 1st I got checked at 38 weeks an 5 days an I was 2cm dilated an I had my daughter the next day 🥰this second time around I’m currently 35 weeks an 5 days an have an appointment later today will see if I get check or maybe until next way ither way I don’t mind it because yea I’m curios to know if I Am dilated or not lol anyways good luck on your journey 😁

I've been checked today actually and I'm 35 weeks now curiously wondering if I made progress and I'm now at 2 1/2 cm dilated from the last time I was checked like a week ago,  but I also know you can stay like this for a couple weeks

My doctor told me she would start at 36 weeks and I declined. I don’t want any checks unless I’m in labor at the hospital and the doctor actually needs one. Otherwise, I don’t like people poking around up there. When I’m in labor, I’ll know!

I don’t see the point in them to be honest. I’ve read women on here who have been 4cm for weeks so finding out doesn’t really mean anything.
Would rather avoid any invasive procedures until they are necessary during labour.
