Working moms: What are your plans for child care after maternity leave?

I have the primary career/job.  So my husband is actually going to be a stay at home dad.  He’s wonderful and is going to be amazing at it.  He’s held down the fort long enough in a career that pays well but is super demanding, stressful, and with long hours while I went to medical school and through residency.  We’ve done a lot of saving and number crunching.  If after a year we find we need supplemental income, he’s going to use the opportunity to make a career change to something he enjoys doing with reasonable hours.

After maternity leave comes paternity leave, obviously.

My MIL already watches my first. She’s so excited to watch another! I hope she can handle it because my kids will be super close in age!

My husband & I work opposite hours so he will while I’m at work

I work full time but partly at home. My husband is a student. So we take turns taking care of my one year old while the other one studies or works. I will have a year of maternity leave with my second and we plan on doing the same after that. We are immigrants and don't have family around and this arrangement is perfect for us.

Other:  working part time and hubbys job allows him to work from home if needed. We may end up getting someone for one day a week so that I can get an extra day at work depending on how it goes

We have a nanny for our LO now and will keep her until this next baby is about a year old :) works very well for us being full time and sometimes needing super flexible hours that daycare couldn’t always provide
