How do I help/support my husband

My husband’s dad isn’t doing well and may not have a turn around. My mother in law called me to tell me the details and asked me to let my husband know. He was working and his job is dangerous and didn’t want to give him bad news while he was working. He hasn’t come home yet, he headed up to the hospital to met his sister.

My husband doesn’t show emotions. He tends to be more angry and shut down.

I told him I would go with him to the hospital and ask my sister to come watch the kids (it’s almost bedtime) but he said as much as i need you our babies need you more.

I just don’t know what I can do to keep him from shutting down and becoming angry

We only have 1 car right now the other one is in the shop
