Help baby won’t open mouth-update!

Hi fellow March baby moms,

I really need help in having baby eat solids. My baby is six months old and won’t open mouth for spoon. He can sit on his own and shows interest when we are having dinner. He would chew on a spoon but as soon as there is food on spoon he will clamp his mouth close. I am very stressed because my MIL is saying I should’ve introduced food when he was four months old now I’m too late.

I tried rice cereal, oat cereal, vegetables purée, fruit purée and none of them works. I tried give him finger sized cooked carrot. He would try chew on it then threw away. Any tips on having baby open mouth to eat when I feed him please?

Update:

Waited a week to try again and he ate half jar of carrot purée! He is opening his mouth and holding my hand with the spoon into it. I’m so thankful for all the support here!
