Do you name your kids after someone?

Am I the only one who doesn’t name their kids after someone. I just pick names I like for First and middle names.

My sons Castle Wesley after my grandpa. I really like the name Wesley though. If i didn’t like it I wouldn’t have named him it. 
My 2nd boy is Silas Reign, just two names we liked. 
And I’m pregnant with my 3rd boy who will be Atlas (unsure on middle name yet), but not after anyone. 
I think my fiancé side of the family was a little hurt we haven’t named any of our babies after them but we don’t like any of their names so 🤷🏻‍♀️

My sons middle name is from my cousin who had died when I was 2 (his name Zander James)
My now pregnancy her middle name is a mix between my sons middle name and my moms middle name. My son passed away in December at 22 months! ( her name is gonna be Pynelopee Ja’Len) just a little piece of them💕💙

Our son’s first name was our own name that we liked and had meaning to us. But he’s middle name is a family name. I think middle names are a good place for honoring or passing on names. But I’m pregnant again, and I’m not positive we will use a family name again, especially if it’s a girl. I don’t like any of our women’s names in our family to pass them on. My moms middle name is Lavada, and it’s been in my family for literally hundreds of years. But I really really don’t like it.

My first born is Elijah David, the first name was something I picked out and his middle name is my SOs first name. And the one im pregnant with now is Benjamin Joel, the first name I picked out and the middle name is my SOs middle name. It’s like a family tradition to have the middle names be after someone, specially the fathers and sons, my younger brothers have the same pattern with my dads name. My middle name is Marie after my grandma too

To actually answer your question, two of three of my children were not named after anyone. Only my last daughter’s middle name is after my grandmother.

Ofcourse you’re not the only one. If my dad (who passed away 21 years ago) had a name that could be altered into something else I liked, it was a possibility. But we’re just going for a name that we both like. Also no middle name, just one.

Our son’s name is the reverse of my husband’s. So my husband’s middle name is my son’s first name (also my MIL’s maiden name although we adjusted the pronunciation so he wouldn’t have to correct people his whole life) and my husband’s first name is our son’s middle name.

My whole family usually names their kids after others in our family. 
My daughters first name is her own but her middle is my name.
My first son is named after his dad, middle is after my nephew.
My second son (due in December) will be named after my SOs cousin, middle name is our own.
