Nope. If it makes you think twice/feel guilty then you shouldn't do it. That's my rule of thumb for relationships. (So obviously I would hope you wouldn't feel too guilty about saying you didn't steal a fry from his plate when you did, but hopefully you would feel guilty if you lied about cheating. Just for context)

No, it’s not OK if you want to build trust with that person. That’s like the opposite of building trust. Generally whenever you have to use lies, manipulation, or gaslighting, it’s not a good idea because using those tactics make you untrustworthy.
