Breast milk not fatty?

Question

When I leave my breast milk in the fridge overnight, there isn’t much of the “fatty milk” on top when it separates. Not even half an inch. Is this normal? Is it possible my milk isn’t fatty enough? This happens no matter when I pump.

Everyone’s breastmilk is different. Some produce more fat some don’t.

All breastmilk is good milk. The foremilk and hindmilk are both good milks. One is not better than the others. Recent studies prove this. Don’t stress. That can affect your breastmilk.

Have you tried to pump longer to see if there is a change?

I never had a lot of fat later in my milk either. My son nursed for a year and was totally healthy and good weight.
