When do your lady parts get examined?

I'm 30weeks today, and my doctor has never checked my lady parts since I've been pregnant. I've done ultrasounds and blood tests and all that but she's never like "examined" me. Is this normal? Is there a time when they do start examining things down there?

If your pregnancy is moving smoothly, they usually don't start doing internal exams until they expect that your cervix could start effacing- usually somewhere around 34-36 weeks.

I had a pap right before finding out I was pregnant so I didn't have one. I know my doctor does the strep b test at 36 weeks but doesn't do cervical checks until 38.

I had a regular pap and then the doctor checked my pelvic bones once around 25 weeks. Nothing since.

I had a pap at my 12 wk, then you have a strep b screening at 36 or 38 weeks... It's not super pleasant.

They don't like to do it a lot bc it risks infection. They'll only do it if there's an issue. Around 35 weeks you'll get a strep B test and you can ask them to check for dilation if you want since they're already down there. Then most won't check until you go into labor or 39 weeks. You can ask them otherwise but they don't like to unless you're contracting or something.

I have mine checked every time I go in due to an incompetent cervix so I am not sure :( same with my last pregnancy

I've had it done just once since becoming pregnant. My dr said starting 1 month before due date he sees me every week and they start checking then.

They start checks at 36 weeks to see how and if you're dilating or effacing.  It's very normal to not have internal exams before then.

I've requested never to be examined, during pregnancy or labor, and my midwives had no issue with that whatsoever.
