We just sent invites out to our family and my husband’s Dad and Step-Mom is telling us they want to throw our son their own separate birthday party. Wanting to get other perspective on this. Thoughts?

We personally think it’s wrong. We believe there are two reasons they want to do this. 1) their other grandchild always has a separate birthday party at their house every year so they are expecting the same to happen with our son. 2) they don’t want to see my husband’s Mom because they don’t like her. As far as I’m concerned, that’s immature. I totally understand having everyone do separate holidays but a birthday party is about the CHILD. You have two options. 1) suck it up and be mature and attend for the birthday child or 2) don’t come and you’ll have to explain to the child why you weren’t there.
