Hoping for a VBAC
Hey all! Glad I found this group. I had my son Feb 2018 via c section after a 46 hour labor deemed failure to progress. With him I had hoped for a completely natural birth, and refused medication and epidural until I could not longer take it (around 40 hours in).
At 39w4d I had a leak in my waters, and was sent to the hospital to be induced. My son was still high, not engaged and posterior and I was 1cm and 0% effaced. With pitocin, Foley bulb and cervadil I labored to 9.5 cm with an anterior lip over the weekend. I was confined to the bed almost the entire time with monitoring and IVs, mostly on my back even though I tried to move as much as possible and use all the techniques I had researched. I was restricted to a liquid only diet the entire time I was at the hospital and quickly became worn out. Midwives broke my water completely, and my son was still posterior and not moving.
The midwives finally said a c section would be best and that was it.
I had no complications in pregnancy or during labor, my son was perfectly healthy and 8lb10.5oz.
I'm now 29 weeks with baby #2 and really want to try for a vbac as my mental health took a serious hit after everything happened exactly how I didn't want it to the first time around.
The only thing that makes me nervous is that my surgical notes say I have "prominent ischial spines" and I'm not sure exactly how much of an impact that will have on a vaginal birth.
Any words of encouragement or stories are appreciated!!
