Do you and your SO have joint bank accounts?

I’m just curious, do you think having joint accounts causes more or less issues? My SO and I are saving for a house and I just don’t know how I feel about making joint credit accounts. Savings, sure. I just want to hear how others do it. Thanks!

I honestly think it’s weird when married couples don’t share a bank account.... like y’all are married and committed to each other for life so why wouldn’t you share a bank account. IMO its easier to keep track of money. You aren’t roommates splitting bills ... idk just my opinion 😊

We have a joint account for our joint expenses (things for our house, groceries, dinners and drinks together, holidays) and we both have our own account. Works for us!

My ex is a bank manager and he doesn’t agree with joint accounts because he’s seen so many couples/marriages break up and one person has wiped the joint account and left the other person with nothing to live on

I’m married, together for 5 years. We have our own accounts and a shared savings. It works differently for every couple. But, no you don’t have to share a bank account. Having some individualism in a long term relationship can help it be long term. Lol.

I won't ever have a joint bank account with my husband. I had a very bad experience with an ex and it's not something I wish to repeat.
Add into that my husband isn't the greatest with money - I love him to pieces, and I've tried my hardest to get him to be better with money but it's a lost cause 😂😂
So he gives me his half towards everything and then what's left is his. I take care of all the bills etc

I have my own current account and my husband and I share his as a joint. This allows me to transfer in and send money out (rent for example) easily between accounts and talk to the banks myself if there are any problems.
My husband is useless with money. Not intentionally, but I guess everyone has something they’re not great at or need to work on.
He’s ok at everything else I can think of
His mum told me he and both his brothers are all useless at managing money. He’s not as bad as those two though, they gamble despite being in debt and not working 🙄 
Like seriously, I’ll check the joint and be like “why is there £2 left in there?! You don’t get paid until next week, how are you going to get to work and back until then?
He’ll have taken some out to help out his mum and dad because of his brothers, who live at home are not paying for stuff or he’s bought a birthday card and chipped in for a present for someone at work... etc... that’s fine, that’s nice of you but seriously? CHECK YOUR ACCOUNT FIRST!!! 🤦🏼‍♀️ 
He’s a bit better than he used to be so hopefully he’s learning (slowly 😒) from me. Until he gets it I won’t even consider closing my current account.

My boyfriend and I have a joint checking account and we also still have a checking account for spending money. Saving is in my name so he can’t spend it (alcoholism is fun). Honestly just keep trying things until you figure it out. We have made things very clear for if we ever break up. We both have our own (enough to get us by if the other wipes the joint account) and can do what we want but we share most of our money.

We share a joint and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. We are married - what’s mine is his and what’s his is mine. Our direct deposits go in the same place and bills come out of there. No one is arguing who pays for what since it’s all OURS anyways. 
My brother and sister in law have separate accounts and they always fight over who pays what bills and whose turn it is to pay for dinners out. I don’t see the point in that. 
Even if they were to divorce someday everything would be split and divided so why make it more complicated now?? Hopefully they never separate but that’s the only example I can think of and it still doesn’t matter. It’s all their money. They have been married over 10 years and their arguing over bills clearly isn’t a good system. Maybe it works for some but definitely not for all.

I don’t do joint accounts unless we’re saving up for something specific. It works for us but I get that other people may have different views. Do what works for you and your partner.

Out of pure laziness my husband and I haven’t combined bank accounts. But we do have our money at the same bank and have them all open with eachother.
Like when I open my bank app, I can open his account, my account and my savings account that became “our savings”. I move money between the 3 without ever being an issue.  We keep meaning to switch banks, and when we do... we will
Combine them.
