IUD after baby?

Question

My midwife brought up birth control options after baby. We discussed IUD, which I’ve never used but think it may now be best option for me. 
She said it could be placed while in hospital post delivery or at my 6 week postpartum visit. 
Anyone have experience with IUD after baby? When did you have it placed?

My friend had hers implanted right after birth! I think it’s definitely better safe than sorry!

I had a paragaurd IUD put in after having my son, it was awful and my periods were unbearable so I got a mirena IUD after that and its by far my favorite form of contraception cause it was so easy. Im thinking about getting it again after this baby

I tried it faster my second and had it removed after 9 months of on and off bleeding/spotting, irregular periods and cramping here and there. I didn’t like it but I think it depends on how your body reacts.

I hated my IUD but I had it placed before I ever started having children. I hear it's supposed to be a lot better after having kiddos. So I'm leaning towards trying it again.

I've had the Mirena IUD after each of my two kids and plan to do it again after this one.  
For me, it worked well, however. I did become stagnant with my weight loss at one time and It was an issue for me to figure out what worked well the first time i had it in.  Also, note I was 16-17 when I had my first child and got one put in and alot of the things that came with that was my age range and hormones. 
Fast forward to 4ish years ago (I was 21ish) when I had my 2nd kid and it was even more of a breeze. The weight came off differently and even with there was a very noticeable chance in mood and skin when it was in vs when I had it taken out this past October. I didnt get a period for a few months here and there, it was a little odd but luckily strip tests are cheap from amazon. Only thing I did not like was my ex had mentioned getting poked by the strings and the doctor cut them way to short and it sucked to get it taken out, I dont reccomend cutting them like that. 
Personally. I never noticed anything there though with my first I think due to how young I was I thought I could "feel" it occasionally inside however I think it was just me being a hypochondriac and trying to find things wrong at the time due to paranoia. 
Overall my experience with it went well and I actually picked an IUD (Mirena) because my mom suggested it. She too is a very fertile woman and it really helped her in between her 5 kids. Theres always a risk with different birth controls especially implants of any sort. It's a good option in my opinion for anyone wanting to wait a minimum of 2ish + years between and dont want a monthly/daily thing to remember.

I got one after both of my babies and had each in for 1 year (until I was ready to try for another). I had the mirena on one and the liletta on the other (pretty much the same). They both worked great for me! Didnt get pregnant with it in and didnt have to deal with periods! I had them put in at my 6 week check-ups. I will warn you that it can cause cramping for the first little bit, reat of the day for me, but it should go away before too long. After removal I got pregnant fairly quickly (1mo with #1 and 4mo with #2). Downside is that I think it kept me from losing some of my baby weight.

I liked my mirena while it was in (pre baby) but when it came time to remove it, they couldn’t easily take it out and had to go in with tools... not a good experience. There have also been issues (rare but scary) with perforation, that I learned about after I had it, so I probably won’t do it again. On thé positivé side, i loved the zero maintenance and being able to get pregnant quickly after they finally got the darn thing out.
