Daddy Caught the Baby!

Hailey

Original due date was October 1st

On the 24th we had our 39 week OB appointment and the doctor told us he thought I'd go into labor within the next 24 hours, I was 3cm dialated at the time, but he felt she'dbe coming soon because of her position. Around 9pm I started having regular contractions. Went to bed and slept until midnight when I woke up to contractions coming every 5-6 minutes. We called the hospital around 1:30 and were told to come in.

Got to the hospital around 3am (I live in BFE) and contractions had slowed but they decided to keep me. Around 7:30 our OB showed up, I was 4cm but still contracting regularly so he broke my waters. Contractions were about 4minutes apart at this point, but not too intense.

I labored on and contractions kept intensifying but were back to about every 7 minutes. Started on Pitocin around 10:30, an hour later the contractions were bad. I decided to take a shower which helped with the pain but I was so exhausted I could hardly sit up. When I got out of the shower I asked for Fentanyl hoping it would provide a little relief. This was at noon. In order to get the Fentanyl they had to check my dilation, I was at a 7. While it didn't lessen the pain of contractions, it relaxed me so I was able to sleep between them (they were every 3-5 minutes but it gave me the recharge I needed).

At about 12:45 I feltan overwhelming need to push and informed my nurse. She said she would check me after my next contraction. Sure enough I was fully dialated and we started practice pushes while we waited for my doctor to arrive. When he got to the hospital around 1, he could see babies hair.

Raina was born at 1:35 and as we requested, daddy was able to catch her.
