How is a baby’s complexion determined?
This may sound like a dumb question but I am genuinely curious. This question was sparked by a conversation I was having with my bf.
I spent most of my life until age 9 or 10 being called a glass of milk now I’m in my mid twenties and I’m referred to as a caramel ice coffee. I say to my bf the child will take my complexion now as well as his complexion now and make a blend but he thinks they’ll tale our complexions before they got darker by years and years of sun exposure.
For POC, how is a baby’s complexion determined? If we spend the majority of our Young lives one complexion but once we were older and say went to away camps and summer programs or jobs that kept you out in the sun and we eventually get darker than how we were in our childhood days. Would our children take the initial complexion or our new complexion that was enriched by the sun? Also I noticed some poc when they get darker in the summer by winter their skin returns to their initial complexion while other poc our skin holds on to the new complexion slightly more and more each year. What does that mean?
So which complexion does your child take your initial coloring or your new complexion after being kissed by the sun for years? 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
There’s so many questions genetics are such a mystery.
