Anyone here have their dog on a vegan/vegetarian diet?

I want to get a dog one day but my family and I are vegetarian. I'm going to start transitioning to a vegan diet for myself once I sort out my health issues. I don't feel comfortable having meat in the house or touching meat-based dog food. Is it safe and healthy for a dog to be on a vegan or vegetarian diet?

I'm vegan and would never feed my dog a vegan diet . Yes it's possible but very hard . And I just believe dogs are meant to eat meat .

I get your point because their dog food is coming from factory farms, but, especially depending on the breed, it can be a huge challenge to determine what is going to be a healthy alternative. You’ll need to learn which essential amino acids that breed needs, and I recommend doing blood tests every few months to make sure your dog isn’t becoming deficient in anything. It’s possible, but please don’t just cut its meat out and neglect it—you’ve got to find the right alternative for your dog.

I’m vegan myself and remember seeing a vegan Cooke with a vegan dog. I personally don’t believe dogs were meant to be vegan, based on their jaws and teeth but I bet you can find some tips online if you google.

I agree with the others. I don’t like the idea of my dog being vegan. Not saying it’s impossible,  it I don’t think it’s the right choice for them.

It's possible to feed them vegan because dogs are omnivores, but it's not easy. They make vegan dog food you can purchase, but unless you have the ability to give the dog a balanced healthy diet with all the vitamins they need, you should stick with traditional dog cuisine so they can be healthy <3
