Pink eye in infants?

Has anyone gone through this?

A few days ago I was out with my Lo and she suddenly got red like rash half of her face. It was windy so I took her in the car and it was gone. Tonight it happened at home but this time it stays, the eye is smaller than the other, red a bit swollen and the rash-like comes and goes mainly when she cries.

The Hospital nurse said it's pink eye and gave us eye drops. But it somehow she didn't sound so sure.

She has no eye discharge, I don't know if it burns her and the drops will make it worse.

I'm going to my pediatrician on Monday but until then would saline wipes help?
