When were you allowed to take a bath after birth?

I had a second degree internal tear and at the hospital she told me not to take a bath but I didn't ask for how long. She told me I could sit in like 2-3 inches of water instead of a sitz bath. Wondering when I can take one again. I'm 2 weeks postpartum but still bleeding a good bit

If I remember correctly I was told not until I got cleared at my 6 week appointment. I could be wrong and I'm sure every doctor is different

My doctor also said wait on baths till I'm cleared at my 6 week checkup. So I'm sticking with showers till then.

Must be different advice in different countries. I’m in the UK and my midwife ran me a bath and helped me in to it about 3 hours after I gave birth to my daughter. I also had a second degree tear and stitching. That bath felt like the best thing ever after two long days of waters breaking and labour.

My hospital told me to take as many baths as I wanted while I was there. They had a whirlpool pool tub too, so I definitely took advantage of that.

The day after. I had an emergency c section. I could shower with support and then I had to wear my belly band.

I was told to wait till I was cleared at my 6 weeks follow up. Your cervix is still open. You need to give yourself time to heal and close or else you’ll end up with an infection.

I took a shower with help a few hours after my son was born. They took him to the NICU and the nurse helped me shower so I didn't mess up any stitches or hurt too bad.
