Short breastfeeding sessions leads to all day/night feeding

I’m at my wits end. I breastfed my first for a year. Right from the beginning we had a good pattern. She fed on one side probably 10-15 minutes. Then switch to the other side for the same duration or a little less if she was full. Then she slept for a while.

Baby 2 is very different. she nurses at one breast for anywhere from 5-12 minutes. The average is 8. Then she falls asleep for probably 15-20 minutes. Nothing I am doing is keeping her up and I can’t force her to switch sides. And she won’t latch back on. She purses her lips together and refuses.

This leads to her just cluster feeding from one breast to the next with 15-20 minute intervals ALL day and night. The only thing that has kept me semi sane is that she has 1- 3hour nap in the day and once I recognize it, I sleep too.

I’ll take any advice. Anyone have a baby doing this? Or is this actually the norm and I was spoiled with my first?
