What are some things I need to avoid doing so I dont become engorged?

Answer

There’s nothing you need to avoid. Engorgement is a normal part of breastfeeding as your body regulates to your baby’s needs. If you feel full and your baby is not hungry, you can pump to alleviate the pressure, but you are sending your body a signal that that milk was needed, and it will produce that much or more the next day. If you allow your breasts to stay full a little while before relieving them, your body will learn you don’t need to make that much excess milk and will acclimate with time. That’s not to say an oversupply is a bad thing, you may want the extra milk so others can feed baby too. Engorgement will happen  occasionally through your breastfeeding journey as baby’s appetite changes and diminishes with the introduction of solids and then when you decide to wean. It’s a normal part of motherhood, and just shows your body is adjusting.

Not nursing or pumping enough. Your supply will eventually regulate once your baby is older.
