Starting IVF 😳 need some input!

We decided to start ivf! I'm so nervous because it seems like such an extreme and time consuming process, not to mention the egg retrieval process that I'm terrified of. So I guess what I'm looking for is any kind of support in the process and what your thoughts on the optional genetic testing they do. It's so expensive but I know it will be worth it . What are some of your thoughts on it or if you opted out, what was your reason?! I stil have time to decide given I'm just starting my birth control Thursday.
