Just had my baby at 35w4d two days ago. At first he was doing great, but things changed with his breathing and a few other things so he was put in the NICU. I’m a first time mama. I expected he’d come a little early since I had threatened preterm labor. I knew it could be hard but I didn’t think it’d be this hard. 1. To not have your baby with you in the room. 2. Knowing he’s down the hall wondering what’s going on. & knowing he’s staying for up to a week and I may be leaving him behind. ( the hospital will let us stay as guests as long as a room is available).

This is so hard. It’s draining all the way around. I know he’s in great hands and exactly where he needs to be. I keep asking myself what did I do wrong. What could I have done differently. ( I know he was just ready to come out, but still. ). I’ve been a wreck.
