Imo she hasnt made actual change. I agree that we need to do something about our co2 footprints but bitch... all she does is talk, shes not doing any actual work. She travels by planes and boats to all those different countries and her carbon footprint is prolly bigger than all of us put together.

She mostly travels by train, which is the cleanest form of long distance transportation. She's a kid. What exactly do you expect her to do? There have been amazing ideas to help the environment, from decreasing carbon emissions, reducing single use plastics, to cleaning up the oceans. But those in power to accept these plans are turning them down so nothing gets done. I did a report on a kid that found a self sustaining way to clean the ocean who had to jump through loops and barrels (which he did and did everything they asked of him) and they STILL didn't take it to the next level and make a prototype to try and test out. Kids have been trying for so damn long. Maybe the adults could start trying too

She’s 13 years old, what do you expect her to do?!!! I believe it’s impressive that she’s actually takin initiative to even talk and educate herself about what’s happening. What other 13 year old do you know that does anything else but sit on their phone and social media?! Even if she doesn’t change the world herself she probably made people think and hopefully changed the mind of someone and that’s a lot too. People need to be more aware of what’s happening with the earth we live in, because we’re killing it and we don’t have another home!!! I don’t know why people are so blind and stupid!

She's only 16. She's not a member of Parliament! And from what I heard she travelled to the UN speech in the U.S by a solar powered boat. Since you think she's polluted the world more than us, I put it to you to answer whether you have done this??
I think she is getting people to consider things. She could definitely be a game changer in the future. She has made people pay attention. I don't know if she has made people change their ways... But how can I speak for every person anyway when I don't know everyone.

Well, we do need to truly start the conversation. 
In multiple ways, I think she makes a difference. But the thing is, companies, not just us "no bag please" individuals, need to be held more responsible and make the changes, a lot of us consumers really want anyway. 
I don't want to produce unbiodegradable waste... I don't want toxic materials in so much of what I buy, I don't want super unsustainable phones and tech that is designed to break and not to be fixed, despite the unsustainable and unethical mining... I find ways around this stuff, (buying used, etc) and that lessens my carbon footprint and my waste, but it's not on me to change the industry.. now is it? 
Companies create many unnecessary, disposable items which are a waste of energy and they're shipped from all over the globe... yet most of us can't afford to be completely local, none of us on the grid can be waste free. 
Companies and governments are left to change their ways, because the company's are fine with the waste and the energy they use, way more than a person could ever use. 
I believe that's why Greta is talking to the people she is talking to. 
We can, as individuals, try to be zero waste, and lessen our carbon footprint, but it's not what will make the difference. 
The conversation has been eclipsed too long. This isn't really just an individual responsibility.

She's trying to get people in power to make the changes because as a 16 year old you're not the one making laws that have an effect on future generations. You should also recognize the indigenous people who have been doing the same thing for years but don't get the same publicity/platform.
