Miss Johnson pt. 5

After the long week, Ridgemont’s first home football game finally came around. Even if Zach had a lot going on in his mind, he had to make sure his mind was clear for the opening game. As much as he was faithful to all practices, his best friend, Pete & teammates knew something was bothering him. The team gathered in the locker room where the coach gave them his usual pep talk.

Even if Jenna missed the whole week from teaching, it was mandatory for all school staff to attend home games for support of the school. Jenna drove in & hesitated to get out of her car, she noticed the car next to her had boys from the opposing school in it. They seemed to be getting high so she decided to mind her own business & leave her car to not draw attention from them. One of the boys noticed her & quickly eyed her from the parking lot to the stands. Jenna made her way to the stands & sat next to a couple of the other teachers. They comforted her & handed her some popcorn. The boys from the other car walked into the stands & found their seat.

Robby: Knock it off guys! Let me get this chick’s number real quick. I think she likes me.

Friends: Shut up! You’re so full of yourself!

Robby walked up to Jenna & sits behind her.

Robby: Hey, so uh when are you gonna give me that number of yours?

Mrs. Freedman: I beg your pardon!

Robby: I’m sorry, I was talking to her not to you.

Mrs. Freedman: Young man, I’ll have you know not to address us so casually. We are both faculty to this school, so if you don’t have any academic concerns I suggest you walk away now. Jenna looks at Mrs. Freedman & whispers “thank you...” Mrs. Freedman winks back. And Robby walks away embarrassed. His friends make fun of him & laugh as he joins them. Jenna didn’t think anything of it. She got hit on a lot since she was a young teacher. She would often get mistaken for one of the students.

The lights got brighter & the crowds cheered louder. It was time for the team to come out. The cheerleaders gave the announcement & welcome for the team & out they came running. Jenna kept her eye out for Zach. She felt bad for making him leave her apartment, but she knew it was wrong. Each of the players came out on the field & lastly Zach’s name was called. A few girls around her swooned. Even in the midst of a huge crowd, Jenna caught Zach’s eye. He was happy to see her. He smiled at her direction & put his helmet on. The game was going well & the points were in Ridgemont’s favor. The other team was down by 10. Some of the opposing team started yelling curse words toward Ridgemont’s players. Jenna turned to those yelling & realized it was Robby & his friends. She quickly looked away. Soon, the students & staff around her started to leave. Mrs. Freedman was the only one left. The game was almost done.

Mrs. Freedman: Oh dear, I should get going. My husband had an early flight tomorrow morning & I need to help him pack tonight. I’ll see you on Monday, sweetheart. You take care & let me know if you need anything. I’ve got good ears too if you just need someone to listen to you.

Jenna: Thanks, Mrs. Freedman.

Robby saw his chance & walked up to Jenna & sat right next to her.

Robby: I was wondering when fatty was gonna leave. So tell me, are you really part of the faculty here. If so, I’m definitely switching schools just for you, Baby.

Jenna: Yes, I teach history & homeroom.

Robby: History huh? Thought you’d be the hot school nurse!

Robby reaches up Jenna’s skirt.

Jenna: Hey!

Jenna moved over.

The game was finally over & Zach heard Jenna’s voice & looked up at the stands. He was going to run up there, but Pete signaled for him to follow the team. They had to head back into the locker room for the closing pep talk with the coach & to gather their things.

By the time the team was done in the locker room, the stands were all clear & parking lot only had a few more cars. Zach looked up at the stands & didn’t see Jenna or those guys there. He ran to the parking lot & saw a group of guys gathered in a circle.
