Why is there such a fine when it comes to abuse?

Abuse comes in more forms than just physical. I believe the best way to defend yourself against it is to first know what it is and what the signs are. I see so many posts on here asking "is this abuse?" And it just makes my heart hurt because I've personally been through it. I've been physically, verbally, and psychologically abused. 9 times out of 10 it starts verbally and progresses and most times IT DOES progress. If you have a friend or family member that you see is showing signs of being abused, please be supportive and offer help.

Domestic violence in the US was only made illegal in 1920. That was barely 100 years ago! I believe we need to be more educated about the subject and stop with this fine line and start calling it what it is (if it's there of course).
