Easier the 2nd time around

Ashley

My first birth story was long and the experience..traumatic. Long story short, 50+ hour labor, 10lb 1.4 oz baby boy delivered via vaginal delivery with shoulders getting stuck, blood transfusion for me. You get the idea.

What a different story this birth was. When we found out we were having our 2nd baby I decided to discuss the idea of induction and growth scan to help prevent the same issues as with the first birth. My doctors agreed and I was induced September 26th, 39+2 weeks at 7:30am. They broke my water midday, epidural in the early afternoon and I watched harry potter on the hospital tv until I started feeling shaky around 10:15. Midwife came in to check at 10:30 and said we were ready to push. We get in position and after my first round of 3 pushes she tells me to stop. I was concerned but it was only because my body naturally pushed the baby the rest of the way out. At 10:41 my 8lb 9oz baby boy was born. Happy and healthy. No tearing for me. I was in shock that it happened so quickly. Other than a little jaundice everything has gone perfectly. Gotta say, definitely different/easier the 2nd time around!
