Using the pill to delay my period

Hi there, so I'm going to a friends for the weekend coming up but I really didn't want to get my period because it's such an inconvenience, so I began taking the pill, I started taking it on Monday night and have been taking one every day from then, it is not Thursday and still no sign of my period which is good, do you think this is okay to do??
