Car seat base not level?

Question

We have the Chicco keyfit travel system. I installed the base in our Honda no problem, everything was level. When I tried to install in our Nissan, there’s no way to get the base level (adjusting the level of the base makes it worse, we need to adjust it to the other direction but there’s no way to do so). Does anyone have a solution? -I’ve heard you could roll up a towel or pool noodle to raise the front of the base, but I’m not sure how safe this is and I can’t find anything about it on the Nissan or Chicco manuals.
We drive a 2011 Nissan Versa and I don’t have want to get a new carseat just for this car since we were planning to trade it in a year or 2.
UPDATE: My husband was able to level it out by using all of his weight to push it down towards the back, then tightening the latch straps. The back of the base is digging into the seats, but it’s level! I’m going to take it to the fire station to make sure it’s safe.

If you go to a fire station they will help you install your car seat.

Contact Chicco and ask their recommendation. Or find a certified car seat installer (not always the fire department - ours are not trained and neither is my BIL, who is a firefighter).

Can you contact Chicco customer service to ask? I have a Britax and was running into the same problem until we added a pool noodle. The car seat manual specifically recommended both options you listed — rolled towel or pool noodle. The towel didn’t work, but the noodle solved the problem!

I do believe the rolled up towel is safe, but you can also contact your hospital and ask if they have any certified carseat safety technicians (i believe that's the term for them) that you could meet with. My nurse practitioner is one and has already addressed meeting with me closer to baby being born (due in March) and helping us properly install our carseat.

I believe most AAAs will do the car seat check by appointment? I know around here the state police do them once a month too?

In the prenatal parenting course I went to they had a car seat expert come in and she suggested a rolled up towel or pool noodle. I was also told this by one of the sales ladies at a baby store I went to and by a midwife. I've also seen it mentioned in instructions for different car seats so I would think its a pretty safe option.

From what I’ve read Chicco does not approve the use of a towel or pool noodle with this seat, and even if they did it would be at the same end where the base adjusts (where the car’s seat meets the seatback) and it sounds like you want to raise the other end, which you can’t do. 
Have you tried installing it in a different spot, side vs. middle or vice versa?
