What do you think about dating someone 15 years older?

I am a 27 year old nurse and I recently started dating a 42 year old attorney. He is divorced for a few years and has two awesome kids, 5 and 6 years old (which is great for me because I have chosen to not have biological children). I am asking because when I was 22 I dated a 37 year old; my parents flipped out and I'm wondering if I'll get the same reaction about this (except worse because he is older AND divorced with kids). My parents are both 52 (they are only one week apart) and have been married 29 years so they're VERY traditional. What is your opinion on dating someone who is considered "much older" than you?

​Also if you have any comments or advise on dating divorcees, this is my first experience. I have never been married but I have been in a few long term relationships (3+yrs).

Age is just a number so long as you are both legal willing and carpeting of where the relationship is going. My husband is 14 years older than me and I love him to death. It doesn't affect us in anyway.

Age is more than a number. Its your chronological age, your life experiences, your socialization, etc.

​That being said, the decision is also about your personality, preferences, how yall get along and what both of you want from the relationship. If youre on the same page I dont see anything wrong with it, youre both consenting adults.

​My DH is 13 years my senior, im 30 and he is 43. Socially, I have always gravitated to older people because of the maturity level. I have never been childish in my adulthood and never quite clicked with young behavior. So I truly understand.

​My DH also has children from previous relationships and I think its all about finding a balance and making sure they are comfortable as you become a part of their lives. Im not gonna lie, its not always easy, but its very doable. Best of luck.

I am 20 and my boyfriend is 29. Yes that is not too far apart, but then again it is not the average 2-3 years age difference. He has been married and divored and has an 8 yr old daughter. We have been dating for 2 yrs. My family freaked because they are traditional, but now they know we are serious, and him and his daughter are my world!

Age should not matter as long as you are of age, love each other and are compatible. I'm 28 (29 in Oct) and my husband just turned 52 Aug. We have been together 6 yrs and married for 3. I have gone through the stress of my mother and father giving me a hard time that he was divorced and had two kids. They are 13 and 11 and I love them. When I woke up and realized I couldn't live for my parents approval but make a decision to be happy, I married him and been happy ever since. Sure, they might be upset but they will get over it. Be happy, love who you want to love and never feel bad for doing so. That's my advice girl!??

Age is but a number. The only issue I had when it came to age and dating was dating younger men.. They seem to mature a lot later. I say go for it, he's mature enough, I'm sure ;)

I think it's always good for a man to be at least 10 years older no more than 15. He's mature, he knows what he wants, financially stable! I'm 32 and my s/o is 44. I have 3 kids and divorced. He's never been married or have any children. We've been dating for 10 months and it can be scary. I've never introduced him to my kids but they know about him. I have to make sure he is the right one 100%. Take a chance! Live life! Your young, good career, no children, I'd say GO FOR IT!!!

Age doesn't matter I know a couple actually who are the same age as you and your S/O. And they are perfectly happy.  The thing is if you love somebody you can make it work despite what everyone else says.
