Birth control in your 30’s or older?

Anyone take birth control in their 30’s? I have painful ovarian cysts and periods and my OB recommended birth control but I have been hesitant to go on it. I read up on how it increases your risk of breast cancer, especially when you are older. Wondering if anyone else has been on it in their 30’s or older? Any issues?

My older sister is on birth control and she’s in her 40s with no issues. She takes it for very heavy and painful periods.

Im going to be 30 in a few months. I have the mirena iud for heavy periods and im going to continue to have it.
