Confused FYI long post
So I’m a FTM, and my baby boy is due Oct 26th. I’m considered high risk because I have lupus, but everything during this pregnancy has gone smoothly with no complications. Because I’m high risk I see a perinatologist and get growth ultrasounds every 4 weeks. I had my last ultrasound on Monday at 37+2. Dr said baby is estimated to weigh 7lbs 6oz already (I know that could be totally off), and has offered to induce me anytime after 39 weeks. He said there’s no medical need for induction, but because I have a diagnosis of lupus he can justify it. I also haven’t had any cervical checks done, because they generally don’t do them until they start talking induction, but from looking at the ultrasound he said my cervix is still pretty long. I have a scheduled cervical check with him next week, and I’m expected to decide by then if and when I want to be induced. I have no idea what I should do. Should I induce before his due date? After? A huge part of me wants to let him come on his own time, but the induction is enticing. I’m afraid that whatever I chose is going to lead to c-section or a more complicated birth. Anyone have any advice??
