Braxton hicks to contractions....?

Any ladies have a good description of when Braxton hicks start to transform into real contractions? ..... I'm 35 weeks and 4 days and have BH constantly! Lots of pressure in my pelvis area too. Dr will check my cervix next week at my appt.

I made only one trip to the hospital because I didn't know the difference and it was false alarm however it was consistent. I was 36 weeks and already dilated when I went it. I had my son at 38 weeks and I only went in because I was bleeding (mucus plug maybe) and I couldn't sleep through the contractions. You'll know when it's the real thing.

Oh yeah, so I had BH a lot with my first and did two False alarm runs to the hospital int he middle of the night. But you will know the minute it's real contractions. There is the same tightness but it's got a pain with it and they are consistent every 5 minutes at first. It's hard to describe how you know....maybe it's just instinct.

The BH will start to come regularly and make you think "well dang, I've never had so many of these before..." You will begin to feel a slight sharp pain with them where you feel the tightness, and they will ever so gradually get a little more painful and more painful, tighter, longer lasting and closer together... Then you time how far apart they are, and when they're a certain number of minutes apart and each lasting a certain length of time (I can't recall the specific amount) go to the ER.

I thought I was having BH because I was 35w4d. My husband started timing them and they were consistently 2ish minutes apart. Doctor told me to head in. I was 9.5 cm when they checked me in. So for me, although I had experienced BH for weeks, it was timing them that alerted me that it was labor.
