Does 0 hcg definitely mean no tissue left behind?

I was pregnant last month, and at about 5 weeks my hpt’s turned negative. I had some spotting, and then got a blood pregnancy test this week (would have been 8 weeks pregnant) which showed 0 hcg. Doc said that was reassuring enough that there was no tissue left behind, but I still haven’t really bled. Thoughts?

It is my understanding that HCG levels have nothing to do with tissue left in the uterus. HCG is the pregnancy hormone so it decreases when a pregnancy stops progressing. You could be at 0 HCG and still have tissue in the uterus. My HCG levels dropped from the thousands, to 8 and then 5 and I still had tissue in my uterus.
