So I reach out or no?

So me and this guy had been exclusively seeing each other for 5 months. Met each other's friends and family, went on dates, had sex, couple stuff ya know? But he always said I just am not ready for a serious relationship, like we agreed exclusively but not being ready for titles/serious. He is busy with his 2 jobs and I'm busy with college. The difference is I'd make time and he wouldn't. Eventually I was tired of reaching out first to hang out and gave him the option of putting more effort into seeing me or we were done. He went on to say he thinks I'm amazing but he can't commit more and that I deserve better because I've been nothing but supportive and patient this whole time. He askes to be friends and i said sure (thinking we would never speak again). But now that its over, we still talk but its like every other day. He still sends me overexaggerated goodnight texts and everything. Tbh it was like we were in a serious relationship before, just without the titles and he didn't realize it.

My thing is, I do miss him and he acts no different than when we were together, like we still text all the time, besides not seeing each other. I want to ask to try again buuut its only been 2 weeks since I ended it. I'd be embarrassed if he said no....
