$135 is taken out of my pAycheck in taxes, is that a lot?

I am married but my husband does not work, and I have two children. I claimed 4 allowances. Can I claim more? I make $15.50 an hr.

Be careful how much you claim- if you’re claiming too many defendants then you will end up oweing back taxes instead of getting a refund

It really depends on what you’re withholding. My husband is the one who works and only withholds 2 on his W4 even though there are 3 of us. He gets a good amount taken out so we get a refund rather than owing come tax season.

I wish that’s all they took out of my check! I get over a grand taken out every check and that is with dependents listed. Like others said, be careful how many people you claim as you will owe money at the end of the year otherwise. You can stop by places like H&R Block if you ever have questions throughout the year.

Google IRS Form W-4.  It can help you figure out the number of personal allowances to use and can be submitted to HR to update your withholding. From just what you've said, you would have 11 personal allowances on the form.
Just keep in mind that if you reduce your withholding, you'll get less back in a tax refund when you file.

No that’s not a lot. I make less than you and have more taxes than that taken out on me. Just make sure you have the depends you show for what you claim I know a lot of people get in trouble over it and end up owing
