My baby girl is here💕

Through out my whole pregnancy I struggled gaining weight. I was diagnosed with Hyperemsis gravidarum and lost 29 pounds in my first 2 trimesters. I only gained 4 pounds while pregnant and it left concern for my dr. because on all the ultra sounds my baby was measuring small. At my 38 week appointment we did a fetal non stress test and an ultrasound for a biophysical test. She was measuring 2 weeks behind and her approximate weight was 5lbs 15 oz. My dr. Decided she would like to induce me on the following Friday October 4 which would make me 39+3. Thursday comes around (October 3) and I’m at work. I have this horrible back pain in my lower back and it was consistent it would get worse and then lighten but never went away so I didn’t think it was contractions. I waited about an hour and a half I never got relief and decided to call labor and delivery and see if I should go ahead and come in. I left work went home showered and my in-laws picked me up and drove me to the hospital. They went ahead and admitted me because I had to be there the following morning to be induced. They hooked me up to the monitors and I was in fact having contractions about 10 minutes apart. The next morning they wake me up around 5:00 am to place an IV and do blood work to prepare for the induction. I started having contractions 5 minutes apart. Around 8:30 my dr. came in and broke my water and around 9:00 they started me on the pitocin drip. My contractions immediately got worse and closer together but I wanted to wait as long as I could before getting the epidural. About an hour and a half goes by and I can’t handle the contractions anymore so they bring in the anesthesiologist to administer the epidural. My nurse waits about 45 minutes to an hour and decided to go ahead and check to see how dilated I was and placed the catheter I was 7 cm dilated. 30 minutes later my dr. comes in to check my dilation and she looks at me and looks at the nurse and says it’s time to start pushing but that she had another patient on the table who had just been put to sleep for surgery and that she would be right back. 2 hours passed and my dr. still hadn’t returned and I had this urge to push but was told to wait on the dr. My dr. Finally comes in 2 and a half hours later and I pushed for around 45 minutes and my baby finally came at 1:41 pm. October 4, Weighing 6lbs 7oz and 18.5 inches long. I tore horribly and lost ALOT of blood but it was all worth it for my precious little girl.

I totally respect your decision to have or not have whatever pain control you want at your birth. I just want to ask why you wanted to wait as long as you could before getting an epidural. Did you not actually want one at first? I wanted mine right away, I didn't see the purpose of toughing it out for a couple hours when I knew I was going to get one anyway. I'm just curious.

Sorry I’m just now seeing this! And I wanted to try and wait as long as possible because I wanted to be able to get up and move around for as long as I could!
