Only 8 days early

Stephanie

Due date was Oct 19, I dilated from a 1cm to a 4cm to a 5 this last Tuesday Oct 8. But no real contractions, I wasn’t to the point of being desperate or just completely miserable.

Thursday I did laundry, went to wal mart did some groceries, ate wayyyy too much went to use the RR (#2) all of the sudden felt this sharp pain in my vajayjay jumped up off the toilet kind of pain... so I was like ummm crap maybe this means something’s happening..

I decided to vacuum to ensure everything was clean, washed the two dishes in the sink put any dirty clothes in the laundry room (just OCD stuff), all while having minor contractions at 6pm.

Around 7:30 I decided to start tracking them just Incase still not thinking too much of it. By 8:30 I was like MAYBE this is turning into something, weather started getting crazy and it was pouring out. My fiancé was getting off around 9pm so I texted him asking if he was getting off on time (which I do everyday no biggie) I didn’t get a response so finally at 9 I FaceTime him and just hey you off soon? He tells me yes wrapping up ok... hang out out of NO where my contractions start coming every 2:30 min and got one so bad it brought tears to my eyes..

I call my fiancé back and I’m like “Heyyy yea um I need you to come home if you can” he’s like it’s time!?! I tell him possibly..

I start gathering everything as I can move around, he gets home around 9:15 by this time contractions are on top of each other and more intense, we get on the highway and get half way to the hospital (which is normally 30 min away at max) and we run into stand still traffic, at this point I have a 3 min contraction, on average 2:38 min apart.

Apparently it took us 1hr and 30 min to get to the hospital I didn’t even realize it was that long as I just thought I was going to die and or delivery in the truck in the rain stuck in traffic with no way around it.

Finally get past the issue which was a flooded highway, once we clear this get to the next highway (exit was shortly after) and see cop lights all the way across, I let out the loudest FUCK (excuse) he decides to off road which I’m ok with because what’s the options I was getting more and more desperate..

Finally get to the hospital 31 contractions later, I get put in a triage room and checked I am now at an 8, and they start scrambling to call my dr and get a room ready in L&D...

I had already decided I wanted to really attempt a natural birth no epidural.

My water was still intact by this point, it’s 10:30 ish get me a room meet my nurse contractions increase in intensity no sign of my water breaking. I think at this point the worst part was the pressure I felt each contraction I was told this was the water bulge..

My Dr comes in around 11:40 to break my water and she’s always so laid back and even toned no matter what.

I put my hand out and tell her oh thank God I need you get this baby out!! They are all laughing at me because I apparently am hilarious.

She breaks my water, and I feel so much relief. I am told you feel relief but the pain is going to increase now, which I’m like greaaaat! As the first contraction kicks in and I’m like sure as shit it’s worse...

At 12am I’m like something is burning and feels really off call for my nurse in a panic to look, she goes to check me and asked me to push and she excitedly says YUP YOURE CROWNING..

we call the doctor and 2 pushes later my beautiful surprisingly calm unbothered baby boy makes his way into this world..

I was so proud that I was able to do it natural like I really wanted to and shocked it all happened within 6hours.. also that I made it to the hospital and didn’t have him on the side of the highway. It was probably the craziest thing that’s ever happened to me in life and maybe the bravest thing I’ve ever set out to do... but he’s here 7.5 LBS 20 INCH long at 12:03am on 10/11/2019
