Ultrasounds. How often?

Hey ladies, I haven’t had a baby in about seven years. I cannot remember how often an ultrasound should be done. My last appointment was a little over four weeks ago and I had my second appointment today at 15 weeks & 3 days. I was told by the Nurse that they weren’t going to do an ultrasound because of the busy flow in the office today and that it was okay for me to come back in three weeks to have an ultrasound.

I live in the UK and we are only offered two ultrasounds , 1 at 12 weeks and another at 20 weeks. Other than that we do not get any more unless there is cause for concern for whatever reason ☺️

I get one at every single OB visit and will also be followed by a perinatologist and get one with them every 3-4 weeks closer to my c section I’ll see the OB every week as well as the perinatologist. Those scans are always 3D

I'm getting ultrasounds once a month but I've had previous miscarriages so maybe that's why?

They usually only offer two one to date the pregnancy and then another between 16-20 weeks for anatomy scan unless your high risk and they will do more

It depends on if your high risk or low risk. Usually NT scan at 13 weeks, dating scan if you need and anatomy scan at 20 weeks. That being said if you are high risk I think more frequent.

I think it's common to just get one for the anatomy scan at 20 weeks, but some ob offices do a dating scan in the beginning too. It really depends on the place. And if your pregnancy is normal and low risk, they won't do another one after the anatomy scan because the baby is big and crowded in there so it's hard to see everything. My last pregnancy I just had my 20 week one and then I had one a couple days before I was induced (38 weeks) because I had high blood pressure. And this pregnancy there are some health concerns so I'm getting one today actually at 12 weeks, then I'll get my usual anatomy scan at 20 weeks. I'm in the US, btw.

In Canada, sometimes your first ultrasound isn’t till your anatomy scan! 
We do one around 10-12 weeks 
Another around 18-20 weeks
I know ontario is different but Nova Scotia, we only do ultrasounds in the hospital, so every time we go to our OB appointment it’s just a normal check up!!
I’m sure it’s fine not to have an ultrasound all the time! I bought a home Doppler (they work after 8 weeks but best after 12 weeks). It helps calm me to hear the heartbeat
